The Daniel Fast 2019

But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way. Now God had caused the official to show favor and compassion to Daniel, but the official told Daniel, "I am afraid of my lord the king, who has assigned your food and drink. Why should he see you looking worse than the other young men your age? The king would then have my head because of you." Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, "Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see." So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days. At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food. So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables instead. To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds. At the end of the time set by the king to bring them into his service, the chief official presented them to Nebuchadnezzar. The king talked with them, and he found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah; so they entered the king's service. In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom. (Daniel 1:8-20)

I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips; and I used no lotions at all until the three weeks were over. (Daniel 10:3)

There are three types of fast in the scripture

1.  Absolute

2.  Water

3.  Partial

The Daniel fast is a partial fast. Each year we engage in this fast corporately.  There are four reasons why we do it.

1.  To consecrate ourselves for the coming year

2.  To position ourselves to hear from the LORD

3.  To gain spiritual momentum through spiritual discipline

4.  To break the power of the enemy in areas that would hinder us from moving forward.

This corporate fast has three parts

1.  The Fast itself

2.  The Denial

3.  Seeking the LORD

Seeking the LORD

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile."

(Jeremiah 29:11-14)

This is a time where each person should use the extra time they have on their hands to seek the LORD’S face.  This is done through increasing time in prayer, worship and the Word of GOD.  This will be a time when the missions bases will have an increase in the amount of corporate gatherings and services to allow each person to go deeper in their commitment .
